Circumambulating the Holy Kaaba
Tawaf is one of the most powerful acts of worship in Islam — circumambulating the Kaaba seven times counterclockwise, expressing the unity of believers in their devotion to the One God.
- Enter the Mataf and position the Kaaba on your left
- Align with the Black Stone (Hajar al-Aswad) and raise your hand saying 'Allahu Akbar'
- Walk counterclockwise — complete 7 rounds
- Men perform Idtiba (expose right shoulder) for the first 3 rounds
- Conclude with 2 rak'ahs behind Maqam-e-Ibrahim
Sa'i
The Sacred Walk Between Safa & Marwa
Sa'i commemorates the courageous act of Bibi Hajar (Hagar), who ran between the hills of Safa and Marwa searching for water for her infant son Ismail. It is a profound reminder of trust in Allah.
- Proceed to Mount Al-Safa after completing Tawaf
- Face the Kaaba at Safa and make du'a
- Walk towards Marwa — men jog between the green markers (Alamein)
- Reaching Marwa completes one lap — repeat until 7 laps total
- The journey ends at Mount Marwa
Halq / Taqseer
Completing Your Spiritual Journey
The final rite — shaving or trimming the hair — symbolises a new beginning, humility before Allah, and the formal completion of Umrah. You exit the state of Ihram and your obligations are fulfilled.
- Men: Shave the entire head (Halq) — more reward — or trim all hair (Taqseer)
- Women: Cut approximately 1–2 cm from the ends of hair
- You may postpone cutting hair until returning to your residence
- All Ihram prohibitions are lifted upon completion
