Visa-Free and Visa-on-Arrival Destinations for UAE Residents
The most common misunderstanding we deal with is that a UAE residence permit is a travel document. It is not: visa-free access follows your passport, and a residence permit only helps in the specific schemes a country has opened to residents. Three of those schemes are worth knowing well — Georgia, Saudi Arabia and Egypt — and they are set out below alongside the passport-based lists for the nationalities we serve most.
Eligibility is decided by the issuing authority. Visa rules are set by the issuing authority and change without notice. We re-check the current position for your passport and residence status before you book, and no page here promises an approval. The rules on this page were checked on 27 October 2026 against the sources listed at the foot of the page.
Schemes that work on your UAE residence permit, whatever your passport
These are the ones where the permit itself is the qualifying document. Each row names the authority or says plainly that the rule is reported rather than published.
| Destination | The scheme | Stay | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|
| Georgia | Holders of a valid UAE residence permit enter without a visa — confirmed by the Georgian embassy to the UAE | 90 days in any 180-day period | Official |
| Saudi Arabia | GCC residents, including UAE residence-permit holders, can apply for the tourist eVisa — one year, multiple entry | Up to 90 days per stay | Official portal |
| Egypt | Visa on arrival for GCC residence-permit holders, with the permit valid for at least six months | 30 days | Reported — we confirm |
| Azerbaijan | A 30-day tourist visa on arrival is reported for holders of a UAE residence visa | 30 days | Reported — we confirm |
| Oman | UAE residence-permit holders apply through Oman's official e-visa portal, which assesses eligibility on the GCC residence | Per visa granted | Official portal |

Three things a residence permit genuinely does for you
- It lets you apply for a Schengen visa at a European consulate in the UAE instead of flying home to apply — and the consulate will ask to see it.
- It qualifies you for the residence-based schemes above, most usefully Georgia for 90 days and the Saudi tourist eVisa for a year.
- It is what proves your ties to the UAE, which is exactly the evidence a consulate weighs when deciding a short-stay application.
- It does not change your passport's visa position anywhere else, and a golden visa adds no travel rights beyond an ordinary residence permit.
